SyKick is an easy way to send frames over a firewire, and presumably thunderbolt and ethernet. It uses the Syphon framework to communicate with your apps on both sides, and allows two computers to share frames with very little latency and very little setup. At the moment it supports the following:
- Very easy setup, You don’t have to be a network engineer.
- 64 bit, It sounds cool and all but it doesn’t seem to matter.
- Tested on OSX 10.6.8-10.9.0
- Requires a FireWire 800 or Cat5-E Cable, it still needs testing with
ethernet orthunderbolt, please let me know - 720×480 video at the moment (v02 and above), scalable to 1440×1080 coming shortly
This is freeware and should be considered Alpha Software, and I accept no responsibility if you destroy your computer, yourself, and/or the world. It will not destroy your computer on purpose, but if anything, running both SyKick and SyCatch apps with syphon can make your computer heat up a bunch. I suggest a laptop cooler or smcFanControl. As I have found so many apps that have been of great use and not charged me a thing, this will always be free. If you have paid for it, you’ve been taken for a fool.

Update:
It seems it does work fine with an ethernet cable. I had to manually set the address on the catching computer to the same as the router on the kicking computer.
I have moved the directions to here
